Railway Technician Age Limit
The Date of Birth entered by the candidate in the RRB Technician online application form must match the date recorded in their Matriculation, equivalent examination, or Birth Certificate. This will be treated as final by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) for determining the candidate’s age. No request for any change in the Date of Birth will be accepted or entertained later.
The prescribed age limit for RRB Technician posts is as per the official notification. Candidates are advised to refer to the detailed notification for category-wise age criteria and applicable relaxations.
- Minimum Age Required: 18 Years
- Technician Grade-I Signal Age Limit: 33 Years
- Technician Grade-III Age Limit: 30 Years

Railway Technician Eligibility Criteria
Technician Grade-I Signal
- B.Sc. / B.Tech / Diploma in related field from a recognized university/ institute.
Technician Grade-III
- Matriculation / SSLC from any recognized board.
- ITI course NCVT/ SCVT in the relevant trades OR
- Apprenticeship in the Relevant trades.
Railway Technician Selection Process 2025
The selection process for both Technician Grade-I Signal and Technician Grade-III is composed of the following three stages:
Computer-Based Test (CBT) – Single Stage
This is the most crucial stage of the recruitment process. It is an online objective-type exam.

Duration:
- 90 minutes for general candidates
- 120 minutes for PwBD candidates using scribe
Negative Marking:
- 1/3rd mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
Qualifying Marks (Minimum Percentage):

Note: The marks may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates if sufficient PwBD candidates are not available.
Document Verification (DV)
After the CBT, candidates shortlisted in order of merit will be called for document verification.
Documents Required:
- 10th/Matric Certificate (for age and qualification proof)
- ITI Certificate or Diploma (if applicable)
- Caste Certificate (if SC/ST/OBC)
- EWS certificate (if claiming)
- Disability certificate (for PwBD)
- Aadhaar Card or valid photo ID
- NOC (for government employees)
- Other documents as mentioned in the official notification
All documents must be presented in original along with self-attested photocopies.
Medical Examination
The final stage is a Medical Fitness Test conducted by Railway Administration.
Important Health Standards:

Candidates must be medically fit as per standards set by Indian Railways. Any failure to meet medical standards will result in disqualification.
Final Merit List
The final selection will be made strictly on the basis of marks obtained in the CBT. Document verification and medical test are qualifying stages and do not carry any marks.
There is no interview or skill test for these posts.
